Visiting U.S. Classical Guitarist Nicholas Goluses Plays at Consul General’s Residence

Visiting U.S. classical guitarist Nicholas Goluses performed in front of an audience at the Consul General’s Residence on Wednesday, 23 August, 2006. Consul General McClellan spoke about the importance of cultural exchange programs between the U.S. and Australia and the historical and cultural ties between the two nations.
Mr. Goluses schedule also includes several workshops and master class sessions for university and high school students, as well as a recital at the International Classical Guitar Ensemble Festival organized by the Classical Guitar Society of Western Australia.
CG McClellan speaks to Country Women’s Association

CG McClellan addressed more than 350 at a Contry Women’s Association of Western Australia meeting on 27 July 2006. The Consul General’s speech discussed U.S. exchange programs that are currently available and the similarities between U.S. and Australian rural life and how both strive for the best outcomes for their children.
Dr. Sutter Speaks Around Perth About China

During his June visit to Perth, visiting U.S. speaker Dr. Robert Sutter spoke to senior academics, students and members of the international affairs community about China’s rapid rise not posing a threat to the U.S. as a dominant regional power. Dr. Sutter is presently a visiting professor of Asian Studies at the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.

CG McClellan Meets with Students at Clontarf Aboriginal College

The Consul General spoke with Indigenous High School students about the United States, the role of a Consul General and the Consulate General, self-esteem, and leadership. The CG talked of how some individuals lead by virtue of their institutional authority and others lead by virtue of their voice or vision, their passion, conviction or courage.
CG McClellan Speaks at Multicultural Day

Consul General Robin McClellan addressed an audience of 600 students, teachers, parents and invited guests as part of Murdoch College’s celebration of Multicultural Day on May 11th, 2006. Mrs. McClellan noted that both American and Australian national narratives are based on diversity and she encouraged those in the audience to celebrate and respect differences in others.
